Legion of Mary
The Legion of Mary is one of the largest apostolic organizations of lay Catholics in the world, with more than three million members serving Christ through the guidance and example of the Blessed Virgin Mary. At St. John Chrysostom Parish, the Legion of Mary offers parishioners an opportunity to deepen their faith, grow in holiness, and actively participate in the mission of the Church.
Legion members seek to be instruments of the Holy Spirit, serving Christ through prayer, evangelization, and acts of charity under the spiritual guidance of our Spiritual Director. Through their service, members strive to bring the love of Jesus and Mary to those in need while supporting the spiritual life of the parish.
The works of the Legion include visiting the sick, elderly, and homebound; promoting devotion to the Holy Rosary and other Catholic devotions; encouraging participation in the Sacraments; and assisting with various spiritual and pastoral needs within the parish community.
Weekly meetings are an essential part of Legion life. Members gather to pray together, including the Rosary and Legion prayers, receive spiritual formation, discuss and plan apostolic works, and share reports on their ministry activities. These meetings provide encouragement, fellowship, and opportunities to grow in faith while supporting one another in service.
Membership is open to all practicing Catholics who desire to draw closer to Jesus through Mary and who wish to share their faith through prayer and apostolic service. Auxiliary members are also welcome and support the work of the Legion through prayer.
Meetings are held every Thursday at 7:15 p.m. in the Parish Centre Meeting Room.
Whether you are looking to deepen your prayer life, serve others, or become more involved in the life of the Church, we warmly invite you to come and experience the Legion of Mary. You will find a welcoming community of faith, friendship, and service dedicated to bringing Christ to others through the loving intercession of Our Blessed Mother.
