Music Ministry
The Music Ministry at St. John Chrysostom Parish plays a vital role in enhancing the beauty and prayerfulness of our liturgical celebrations. Through music, we lift our hearts and voices to God, helping the entire congregation participate more fully in the Mass and deepen their experience of worship.
The Music Ministry includes both Cantors and Choir Members. Cantors lead the congregation in song and help proclaim God's Word through sacred music, while choir members support the assembly by singing hymns, psalms, and other liturgical music, either in unison or in harmony. Together, they help create a prayerful atmosphere that inspires and enriches our parish community.
We are blessed to have both an Adult Choir and a Youth Choir, offering opportunities for parishioners of different ages to share their musical gifts in service to the Church.
Members of the Music Ministry gather for weekly rehearsals at the church, where they grow not only in their musical abilities but also in their understanding of the liturgy and the role of music in prayer. Additional personal practice may occasionally be required, especially when preparing special music for feast days and celebrations.
If you enjoy singing and have a pleasant voice, we would love to welcome you! The ability to read music is helpful but not required. What matters most is a willingness to learn, a love for sacred music, and a desire to serve God and the parish community.
Whether you are an experienced singer or simply feel called to share your gift of song, we warmly invite you to consider joining the Music Ministry. Come and be part of a joyful and supportive community that helps lead others in prayer through music.
