Visiting Ministry
The Visiting Ministry is a beautiful and compassionate outreach of St. John Chrysostom Parish. Through this ministry, trained Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion bring the comfort, presence, and love of Christ to those who are unable to attend Mass because of illness, age, or limited mobility.
Each week, Visiting Ministers bring Holy Communion to parishioners and other Catholics in Southlake Hospital, private homes, retirement residences, and long-term care facilities. In doing so, they help those who are sick or homebound remain connected to the Eucharist and to the parish community.
When a priest is available, Mass is celebrated regularly in some of these facilities. At other times, Visiting Ministers lead Communion Services and, in some locations, gather residents in prayer through the Rosary. Their visits often provide not only spiritual nourishment but also companionship, encouragement, and a caring presence for those who may feel isolated or alone.
Visiting Ministers serve in teams of two and typically commit about two hours per week. This ministry is ideal for parishioners who have a compassionate heart, enjoy spending time with others, and feel called to share Christ's love with those most in need of comfort and support.
As with all Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, Visiting Ministers are practicing Catholics who strive to live in accordance with the teachings of the Church and who approach this ministry with reverence, faith, and dedication.
If you are looking for a meaningful way to make a difference in someone's life, we warmly invite you to consider joining the Visiting Ministry. A simple visit, a prayer, and the gift of Holy Communion can bring great comfort, hope, and joy to those who are unable to be with us at Mass. Your time and presence can truly be a blessing to others.
